Knitted Lux Edition for Bestebakken Hotell in Hafslo is a design collaboration built around luxury pieces for high-end guests, knitted in, among other things, alpaca yarn from Bestebakken's own alpacas.
Meet Rusti
Rusti is one of Bestebakken Hotell's best-known alpaca faces. He and the rest of the herd help keep the hotel's food waste at almost nothing.
And did you know that alpacas are among the quietest and gentlest animals in the world? They prefer to be in a herd, and are thoroughly unhappy on their own.
Rusti and the herd are the source of Bestebakken's supersoft, one hundred per cent pure alpaca yarn — used in the jumpers Arctic Snow, Bjørk and Ebb & Flo, and in the ponchos The Pink Hour and The Magic Woods, among others.
The garments in the collection
Every design was made for Bestebakken, and each one is named after something Norwegian.
Arctic Snow
Hand-knitted in soft mohair and handspun alpaca from Rusti and the others at Bestebakken. The design is inspired by and named after the Norwegian winter — cold, deep in snow and almost arctic — and the soft snow crystals drifting down from the sky.
Bjørk
Named after the colours of the Norwegian national tree — a tree that is strong and fragile at the same time. Knitted in mohair and handspun alpaca.
Ebb & Flo
Named after the summery colours that appear along the shoreline as the sea draws back and returns.
The Magic Woods
A poncho named after the old Norwegian forest — the moss, the wild flowers and the mist between the trunks.
The Dandelion
Inspired by the Norwegian dandelion, which many people write off as a weed, but which is a beautiful and intricate flower if you look a little closer. This one is a tribute to dandelion children — the ones who manage, and grow into beautiful people, despite the hardest of starts.
Forget Me Not
Knitted and embroidered, named after the half-wild forget-me-not in sky blue and yellow. It is the family's favourite flower, passed down through three generations — so there is an extra love story in the name.

Miss Buttercup — knitted and embroidered, named after the buttercup. Every Norwegian child has at some point held the yellow petals up under someone's chin to see if it turned yellow. If it did, you liked butter.
The Pink Hour — a short poncho, named after the pink hour that turns up in the evening sky now and then.
Love Actually — a top named after the film, and after Keira Knightley's wedding dress.
All the garments are classic, feminine and made to last — as right in summer as in winter.
