Knit a hairband with a knot

From about age eight. One long strip, one knot — and something you can actually wear.

You need

• Chunky yarn
• 6 mm needles
• Darning needle

This is what you learn

• Knitting long strips
• Making a knot
• Sewing up

Cast on

Cast on 12 stitches.

Knit

Knit all the stitches.

Carry on until the work measures about 50 cm. Cast off.

Make the knot

Lay the hairband flat. Make a loose knot at the centre front.

Sew the ends together.

Well done

Now you have made your own hairband.
