All I Can Think About Is You – The Poncho
Adventure of a Lifetime · Level: Beginner plus
A soft, wide poncho in stockinette with two eyelet lines that follow the shoulders. It is knitted top-down in the round and grows by itself — four stitches every other round. The embroidered flowers are optional, but they are what make the poncho yours.
Soft. Moving. Effortless.
Styling
Over a thin sweater, a dress or just a T-shirt. The neck opening rests on the shoulders instead of around the neck, and the whole garment falls outwards in two soft points.
Perfect if you want
- A large garment with very little shaping
- Lace pattern without a chart — two simple rounds that are repeated
- A project you can make shorter or longer yourself
- To try embroidery on knitting, without it being required
- A poncho that rests on the shoulders and does not pull at the neck
What you get
- Digital knitting pattern (PDF) in mobile format
- One step per page, with a tick-off box
- Video links to the techniques along the way
- Two options: the embroidery and a separate section on changing the length
- A4 print sheet with the whole pattern, and a notes page
The story behind the design
A poncho gives the most back for the least shaping. You cast on around the neck, and then it grows by itself in two straight lines down over the shoulders. The yarn overs make a ladder of holes that tells you how far you have come without you needing to measure.
The design is older than the name CosyMonday. The brand was once called Ponchogirl, and it was the ponchos that started it all — they were the first thing I made, and the thing people came back for. All I Can Think About Is You is from that time, and one of those I never managed to put down.
The name comes from the Coldplay song All I Can Think About Is You.
Adventure of a Lifetime
Adventure of a Lifetime is CosyMonday's poncho collection, and the one that goes furthest back. Soft, bohemian, full of movement and effortless — garments you throw on, and that move with you instead of staying stiff.

Construction
Knitted top-down. You cast on around the neck, divide the round in two with stitch markers, and increase with yarn overs on each side of the marker stitch every other round. The yarn overs become the two eyelet lines along the shoulders. When the length is reached, the work is divided into front and back, which are decreased separately down to the slanted lower edge.
What you learn
- Stretchy cast-on
- Working with stitch markers
- Lace pattern with yarn-over increases
- Dividing the work into front and back
- Decreasing on the right side
- Loose bind-off
- Optional: embroidering flowers
