Midnight Fur – The Poncho
Part of Adventure of a Lifetime · Level: Beginner · One Size
Rib all the way down, and nothing else. No pattern repeat to keep track of — just knit and purl, round after round, until it is as long as you want it.
Warm. Simple. Done when you say it is done.
Styling
Let the neck stand up outdoors and fold it double indoors. Knit a beanie with a pompom in the same yarn, and the set comes together. Over jeans and boots it is styled and ready.
Perfect if you want
- A winter garment with no sleeves, buttons or fit to worry about
- Rib that does not roll and does not need counting
- To decide the length yourself, as you go
- A pattern you can put down in the middle of a round and find your place again
- Your first larger garment
What you get
- Digital knitting pattern (PDF), built for your phone
- Nine steps with tick-boxes along the way
- Cosy Cues with technical tips throughout the pattern
- Video links for stretchy cast-on, stitch markers and lace pattern
- Print section and notes page at the back
- The pattern in Norwegian, English, Swedish, Danish and German
The story behind the design
Some garments are for looking at. This one is for wearing. The poncho is knitted in the round and top-down, with not a single place where you can go wrong in a way that cannot be fixed. The neck is high enough to fold double, and the fringe at the bottom makes it hang rather than stand.
Part of Adventure of a Lifetime
The poncho collection from CosyMonday. Soft, bohemian, easy to move in and effortless.
Midnight Fur is the simplest of them. No popcorns, no pattern knitting — just rib, a high neck and fringe.

Construction
The poncho is knitted in the round, top-down, in rib. It starts with the high neck and is increased out from two centre stitches, so it falls in points at the front and back. At the bottom the rib turns into an eyelet border that the fringe is attached to.
