My Bohemian Me – The Vest
Always Loveable · Level: Beginner
A vest that gets more beautiful the more different balls you have lying around. Each stripe is a few rows in one colour, and you change when you want to or when the ball runs out – the only thing that has to match is the gauge.
Garter stitch. Leftover yarn. Full of colour.
Styling
The vest is the only patterned thing you need. Wear it open over a simple shirt, or buttoned up over something slim. The olive green edge ties the colours together and makes the whole read as one garment, not as twenty balls of yarn.
Perfect if you want
- To use up leftover yarn on something you actually want to wear
- A garment without a single seam
- Garter stitch all the way – knit stitches only
- Five sizes in the same pattern
- To decide the colours yourself, as you go
What you get
- Digital knitting pattern (PDF) in mobile format
- One step per page with a tick-off box
- All five sizes in the same pattern
- Cosy Cues with useful technical tips
- Links to help videos where the technique is used
- A4 print sheet and notes page at the back
The story behind the design
My Bohemian Me was made for Marie Olsson Nylander. The idea is the same one that runs through the whole collaboration: colours picked out by hand, not from a shade card. That is why no two vests are alike, and why this is a pattern that welcomes you using what you have. The stripes run vertically because the vest is knitted sideways – and that is also the reason there is not a single seam to sew at the end.
Always Loveable
Always Loveable Collection is the collaboration between CosyMonday and Marie Olsson Nylander – garments made to be worn for a long time, in colours picked out by hand and not from a shade card. The series covers both knitting and crochet, and has the same calm, well-worn look throughout.

Gauge
12 stitches × 22 rows = 10 × 10 cm in garter stitch on 7 mm needles
There are 11 garter ridges per 10 cm.
Construction
The vest is knitted sideways, in one piece, back and forth on the circular needle: right front centre, V-neck, shoulder, armhole, back, armhole, shoulder, V-neck and out into the left front edge. The stitches run vertically on the finished garment, so the stitch count determines the length and the rows determine the width. The armhole is bound off from the top edge and cast on again. The lower edge and the edge around the front and neck are picked up at the end.
