Snow & Sunset – The Sweater
DaynNite · Level: Beginner plus
Four colours laid in order from the bottom up: natural, dusty rose, yellow, and stripes towards the neck. Ballerina Chunky Mohair blurs the edges between the sections, so the colours blend into each other instead of meeting. A wide raglan, a V-neck with an i-cord edge and puff sleeves that are shaped at the very end.
Light. Soft. Full of sun.

Styling
Let the white ribbing sit outside the waistband of your trousers – then the natural breaks up the yellow instead of disappearing into it. The V-neck is wide enough to be pushed down over one shoulder.
Against dark denim the contrast is sharpest. Against beige and camel the whole garment becomes softer, and the two yellow tones stand apart more clearly.

The story behind the design
Sun on a white sheet. Yellow where the light is strongest, dusty rose where it is fading away.
Snow lies beneath everything – ribbing, cuff, neck edge – and keeps the other three from tipping over into sugar. The mohair blurs the edges, and the colours slide into each other instead of meeting.
The sleeves are a shade darker yellow than the body. That is the choice: four colours laid in order, not a transition that flows.
DaynNite
From day to evening – without changing.
A collection inspired by contrasts – the soft and the edgy, the calm and the expressive. Soft garments with an effortless, bohemian edge, designed to work all day and feel just as right in the evening.

Yarn & equipment
Recommended yarn
Ballerina Chunky Mohair – Sandnes Garn, 135 m / 50 g
- Snow, natural: 4 (4) 4 (5) 5 balls
- Wild Flower, dusty rose: 3 (4) 4 (4) 5 balls
- Lemonade, light yellow: 2 balls in all sizes
- Sunset, dark yellow: 1 (1) 2 (2) 2 balls
You need 10 (11) 12 (13) 14 balls in total. The stripe section uses small amounts, so it can be knitted from leftovers in other colours without anything else in the pattern changing.
Needles
- Circular needle 7 mm, 80 cm for the body
- Circular needle 7 mm, 40 cm or double-pointed needles for the sleeves
- Circular needle or double-pointed needles 5 mm for the cuffs
You will also need
5 stitch markers, scissors, darning needle, tape measure
Gauge
13 stitches × 18 rounds = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette on a 7 mm needle.
If you knit more loosely, go down to needle 6. If you knit more tightly, go up to needle 8.
Construction
The body is knitted bottom-up in the round, in stockinette all the way: ribbing in Snow, then Wild Flower, then Lemonade up to the armholes.
The sleeves are knitted separately. The cuff is a long ribbing on a smaller needle, and the stitch count is doubled in one round when it is finished – it is the doubling that gives the sleeve its width.
When body and sleeves are on the same needle, the raglan is decreased at all four corners while the V-neck is decreased at the same time. The stripes run through the whole decrease section. The sleeves are halved twice at the end, and that is what gives the puff. The neck is finished with an i-cord edge that starts at the centre back.
What you learn
- Stretchy cast-on
- Raglan decreases at four corners
- V-neck decreased as you go
- Puff sleeve over two rounds
- I-cord edge
