So lovely that you're joining! The first email arrives on Monday 11 January. 🤎
Before we start
Use the week before, 4–10 January, to get ready:
- Buy the pattern and find your size in the measurement chart.
- Get your yarn and needles. The yarn list and amounts per size are in the pattern.
- Knit a swatch, ideally 15 × 15 cm, and measure the 10 centimetres in the middle. Work it out with the gauge calculator.
The weekly plan
-
Week 1 · 11–17 January
Cast-on, ribbing and the hem motif
Steps 1–4. You cast on, knit the ribbing in Purple Jam and start the chart at the bottom of the body.
Techniques: Stretchy cast-on · Colourwork with two strands
-
Week 2 · 18–24 January
The flower band
Steps 5–6. The flowers appear and you bind off for the armholes. This is the week the sweater finds its character.
Technique: Colourwork with two strands · Tip: The note above the row in the chart
-
Week 3 · 25–31 January
The sleeves
Steps 7–9. Two sleeves with ribbing, stripes and the same chart as the body. If you'd like a double cuff with a button, you'll find it as a variation at the back of the pattern.
Techniques: Jogless stripes · Stripes and colour changes
-
Week 4 · 1–7 February
Joining, neckline and a finished sweater
Steps 10–15. Body and sleeves are joined on one needle, the raglan is decreased, and you knit the neckband and sew up under the arms.
Technique: Raglan
Share as you go
Post photos of your knitting with #cosymondaykal and #cosymonday on Instagram or TikTok. I follow the hashtag and share photos along the way. Half a ribbing is just as welcome as a finished sweater.
