Camel – The Beanie
Cabin at Midnight · A Head Full of Dreams · Level: Beginner
A square, two seams, and done. No decreases, no markers, no circular needle. The top is sewn straight across instead of being decreased – that gives the two little corners that stick up, and a beanie that sits high and loose rather than tight around the head.
Warm. Earthy. Seventies.
Styling
The shape is the seventies: the tall, soft beanie that sat a little back on the head. Camel is the colour that belongs to it – warm, earthy and easy to wear. The beanie goes with Anna's Easy Beanie, the other beanie in Cabin at Midnight, and the two can be knitted as a pair.

The story behind the design
The whole beanie is one square. It is knitted flat, sewn together at the side and straight across the top – and that straight top seam is exactly what gives the two corners. A purl row across is the only detail, and it is also the only thing that tells front from back.
Cabin at Midnight
Cabin at Midnight is the collection for the dark hours – warm colours, simple shapes and garments that belong in the winter landscape.
A Head Full of Dreams
A Head Full of Dreams is a collection inspired by dreams, colour and hope. The designs are made to keep both your head and your thoughts warm – with soft materials, strong colours and a playful look. These are garments that remind you to dream big, create freely and never give up. The beanie series grew out of the collection CosyMonday designed for Odd Molly.

Recommended yarn
Ballerina Chunky Mohair – Sandnes Garn, double yarn.

Notions
- Darning needle with a large eye
- Scissors
- Tape measure
Gauge
10 stitches × 14 rows = 10 × 10 cm in garter stitch on needle 7 with double yarn. 2 rows = 1 ridge.
Construction
The beanie is knitted flat as a square, 50 stitches wide and 29 rows high. The 50 stitches become the circumference, not the height. First 13 rows of garter stitch, then 1 purl row that makes a clear line across, and finally 15 rows of garter stitch. The side edges are sewn together into a tube, and the bind-off edge is sewn straight across the top.
