London Cardigan
CosyMonday · Level: Beginner plus
London Cardigan began as a pile of mohair leftovers that did not belong together. Petrol, hot pink, grass green and a grey-blue shade that was really meant for something else entirely. Instead of splitting them up I put them one after another and let the colours clash on purpose.
Wide. Short. Open.
Styling
Open over a white t-shirt and wide jeans. The cardigan is short and wide, so it suits something slim underneath. No buttons and no front band — it is meant to hang loose.
Perfect if you want
- To use up leftover balls of mohair
- A short, wide cardigan with no buttons to fuss over
- To learn popcorns in ribbing
- Colour blocks that are allowed to clash
What you get
- Digital knitting pattern in mobile format, with tick-boxes for each step
- Five sizes in the same file, XS (S) M (L) XL
- 18 steps with Cosy Cues along the way
- A4 print sheet with all numbers and measurements, and a notes page
The story behind the design
That is how a city looks — nothing matches, and yet it holds together. The colours were laid one after another in the order they lay in the basket, and the wide ribbing at the bottom is the only thing that holds it all together.
The leftover-yarn garments
London Cardigan belongs to the leftover-yarn garments at CosyMonday — patterns made to let you use what you have, as long as the gauge is right. Six of the seven colours take very little yarn.
