O · Smooth Edition
Adventure of a Lifetime · Level: Beginner
A poncho in one stockinette drape, from neck to fringe, with no eyelet border breaking the surface. Puno sits close and warm against the body, soft without weighing you down, in a deep orange. The fringe is the only thing that moves.
Smooth. Warm. Unbroken.
Styling
O · Smooth Edition is meant as the layer you throw on just before you go out the door. Wear it over a simple top and jeans on cool evenings, or on its own as an outer layer on a crisp autumn day. The fringe gives movement without making the garment heavy to wear.
Perfect if you want
A project with no pattern to keep track of – just stockinette, even increasing and fringe at the end. Suits you if you like clean, single-colour garments without distractions, and want to see results quickly.
What you get
A digital PDF pattern in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English and German, with all five sizes (XS–XL) in the same file – step by step, with photos and a separate print section.
The story behind the design
Orange is the colour of embers once the flame has died down. Puno holds that warmth long after the knitting is finished – dense, matt, with no sheen to steal the eye. Here no eyelet border breaks the surface: the body runs straight from neck to fringe, in one unbroken drape. The collection name comes from the Coldplay song Adventure of a Lifetime.
Adventure of a Lifetime
Adventure of a Lifetime gathers CosyMonday's ponchos – simple, single-colour garments you throw on and head out the door in, with no complicated patterns to keep track of.
Size
Graded in five sizes, XS to XL. Finished length from neck to fringe edge: 77.6 (81.2) 84.7 (88.2) 91.8 cm.
Yarn & equipment
Puno (Rauma Garn), shade 1358 Oransje. You need 5 (5) 6 (6) 6 balls, plus 121 (126) 131 (135) 140 metres for the fringe. Circular needle 7 mm, 40 and 80 cm.
Gauge
14 stitches and 17 rounds stockinette = 10 × 10 cm on 7 mm needles.
Construction
The poncho is knitted top-down, in the round, without a single seam, and increased from two centre stitches. The neck is cast on, the markers are placed, and the increases spread the body evenly outwards. No eyelet border breaks the drape here – the body runs smoothly all the way down to a simple eyelet row, where the fringe is pulled through and attached, before the bind-off.
What you learn
You get practice in knitting top-down in the round, increasing from two centre stitches, and a simple eyelet row as a technique for attaching fringe – basic techniques you take with you to other projects.
