Pinky Promise: a gold ring to remember

Pinky Promise – rosa og lilla mohairgenser med puffermer og brodert gullsirkel på brystet

In the middle of the chest of Pinky Promise sits a circle embroidered in gold thread. It is there to remind you of one thing: check yourself, once a month.

A pinky promise is the smallest promise there is. You hook your little finger into someone else's and promise. It takes one second, and yet it is the promise that is hardest to break. That is what I was thinking of when the sweater got its name.

The circle

The gold ring sits a little way below the neckband, embroidered in chain stitch. It catches the light when you move, and it sits exactly where you should check. Every time you pull the sweater over your head, you see it. That is the whole point of it.

Lindex has a simple guide to examining your breasts yourself: lindex.com/no/pink/bryst-selvundersokelse. Keep it open the first time. After a few months it is in your hands.

The sweater

Pinky Promise is knitted top down, in the round on needle 7. The neck is a tall rib that can be folded. Pink turns into lilac just above the armhole, the sleeves are increased out to a puff, and two eyelet rows go round the body. Mohair and wool held together make it light to wear and quick to knit. The level is Beginner plus.

The pattern is free

I do not charge for Pinky Promise. If you want to give something back, Vipps an amount of your choice to Kreftforeningen on 2277. The money goes to breast cancer research, not to me.

This year's Pink Ribbon campaign is about life with and after breast cancer, under the theme «Dreams of time and good days». A sweater solves none of that. But it can sit on someone you love, and remind her to check.

If you knit Pinky Promise in October, I would love to see it. Tag the picture with #cosymonday and #cosymonday_embracingknitwear. And hook little fingers with someone and promise them the same.
