There are two kinds of winter people. The ones who count the days until the light comes back, and the ones who hope for more snow. Winterlovers is knitted for the second kind.
The eyelet pattern isn't there to make the sweater easier to knit. It is there so it can breathe. A winter sweater that doesn't breathe ends up hanging in the wardrobe because it can only be worn outdoors — and that is a shame when you have knitted it yourself.
Silk and wool together give warmth without weight. The silk makes the surface slightly shiny, so the light settles differently on the eyelets than it would in pure wool.
The puff sleeves are where they always are with me: just enough volume for the sweater to have a shape, not only a size.
It is marked Beginner plus. If you can knit and purl, and you want to try an eyelet pattern for the first time, this is a safe place to start. The eyelets come in a fixed system, and after five rounds you can see it without counting.
