Ponchogirl. That was the name of my brand before it became CosyMonday. The name has been put away. The hands that knit are the same. And the poncho is still one of the garments I have made the most of.
Ponchogirl
Ponchogirl had the website ponchogirl.no and the Instagram account @poncho_girl_knitwear. The garments labelled Ponchogirl are mine. I designed them.
I started Ponchogirl in 2019, just before covid. That was also when I picked up knitting again. I had knitted a lot before, but I had taken a break since my children were small. My cousin came to visit with her two daughters, and my mother gave each of them a poncho. That made me want to knit again. In the beginning I designed only ponchos.
Why I changed the name
In 2020 I started designing vests and sweaters. The name Ponchogirl became too narrow, and I changed it to CosyMonday.
How CosyMonday came about
CosyMonday is enveloping garments that turn a rainy Monday into a good day.
The tagline is Embracing knitwear. The hashtags are #cosymonday and #cosymonday_embracingknitwear.
What has stayed the same
The designer is the same. Every pattern carries the credit “Design by Anne-Turid Karlsrud”. I design mostly in mohair, but also in other wool and in surplus yarn from the fashion industry. Surplus yarn rarely comes back. That is why a prototype put up for sale may be the only one of its kind.
Today the patterns are always graded to five sizes, from XS to XL. They are available in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English and German. And they are built in the mobile format CosyMonday Step-by-Step, with one step per page and a box to tick off.

The poncho today
The poncho gave the old brand its name. Many of my ponchos are knitted top-down, in the round. Clocks – The Poncho is garter stitch all the way, in Puno 811 Natur. The neck is a double edge with a cord you can pull as tight as you like. Long fringes hang at the bottom.
The Hardest Part – The Poncho is stockinette in two shades of beige, with a high neck and a wide ribbed border at the bottom. It is increased by four stitches every other round. After a third of the length, the colour changes from light to darker beige.
Amsterdam · The Poncho is white Ballerina Chunky Mohair, stockinette all the way. On a 7 mm needle the mohair becomes so airy that light passes right through. Then you can see the two increase lines running from the neck down.
Adventure of a Lifetime - The Poncho has a roomy hood, fringes and a removable tassel. It is knitted in Puno Metallic, an alpaca with a metallic sheen.

The poncho is a garment without sleeves and without seaming. You knit in the round all the way, and the shape comes from the increases alone. That makes it a good first large garment, and a good place to try a new yarn.
All the ponchos are gathered in Ponchos from CosyMonday.
Do you have a Ponchogirl garment?
If you have an old garment labelled Ponchogirl, it is mine. Feel free to show it off with #ponchogirl.
The name is new. The stitch is the same.
